Veterans Mural

In his Mays Landing art studio on Wednesday, Nov. 3, Marcos Monteiro, 50, of Mays Landing, who is originally from Rio de Janeiro, works on the Veterans Mural that will be placed in the main lobby of the George L. Hess Educational Complex in Mays Landing. The mural portrays five local war veterans from the area, the Battleship New Jersey, the Battle of Iwo Jima, and the Coast Guard, and it was produced completely with conté crayons, similar to charcoal, and pastels. A touch-screen computer will also be placed beside the mural in the school's lobby, so that students can learn specifically what each part of the mural represents.
